A rare opportunity to own a barn find 1954 Buick Century Convertible, model 66C in Lido Green. Only 2,790 convertibles were produced in 1954 as the first year for the 2nd generation Century. This car was last on the road in 1967 and has been with the original family since new. All of the kids were brought home in the back seat of this 67,656 original mile classic. They had engine problems more than 50 years ago and so it just sat in the garage since. Arguably one of the fastest production cars made in 1954 with the 322 ci Nailhead V8, automatic transmission and loaded with power options (top, windows, seat, antennae, etc.)
She is fully original with the stock interior, steering wheel, gauges, stereo, hub caps, trim, etc. and the body and trim show no signs of repaired damage or missing pieces. I do have another front bumper for it as you can see one dent on the bumperette. It is rust free all the way around and underneath other than a few small spots in the trunk so no need for any panel replacements.
The small oiler tubes for this year were known to be problematic if the oil was not changed regularly and especially with the quality of oil back then. So, I’m assuming that’s what occurred and would cause the motor to either suck a valve or even damage the piston. It does come with a 1955 322 Nailhead engine and transmission still mounted together. My plan was to take the heads off the 65, which have larger valves, keep the numbers matching block and use the newer transmission as they went to an aluminum bellhousing so it’s lighter and includes a passing gear.
You can see the values of the Skylark models for 1954 and if you can even find a Century convertible for sale, in restored condition they range in the $80-$120k value depending on level of restoration.
